Not even blizzard conditions could keep the Hamilton Town Board members from getting down to business as they met Dec. 8 for their monthly meeting.
In spite of the year’s first snowstorm dumping more than a foot of snow on the region, town board members gathered to discuss a variety of measures including the appointment of town planning agency as well as poll workers.
With comprehensive planning completed, the Hamilton Town Board moved ahead to appoint a committee of people to help review future development and make sure that these changes are in keeping with the comprehensive plan. The members of town planning agency will have staggered terms.
The members and the length of their terms are as follows: Warren Pickar (one-year term), Carl Nuttleman (two-year term), Steve Knutson, (two-year term), Jon Labus (three-year term) and Hamilton Town Board member Blaine Lee (one-year term). Their terms begin January 2010.
The town board also approved poll workers to work elections during 2010-11: Lynn Labus, Rita Zindorf, Delores Rhyme, Barbara Caulum, Gloria Nuttleman, Judy Hutchens and Kristen Harris.
Also at the December meeting, the board approved 2 percent pay hikes for patrolmen starting in January.
The town board also expressed support for a resolution signed by La Crosse County in support of high-speed rail service between Chicago and the Twin Cities that would stop in La Crosse six times per day as opposed to one time per day.
