Holiday decor contest nominations due Dec. 16

The deadline for West Salem’s second annual holiday decoration contest nominations is just around the corner.

Nominations will be taken through Wednesday, Dec. 16, for the annual home holiday decoration contest. Judges will be out on the evenings of Dec. 17-18.

Any home in the school district of West Salem is eligible for this contest. Prizes will be awarded to the top 2 homes and a drawing for a special prize will be held for anyone who nominates a home.

First prize is a one-night stay in the whirlpool suite at the AmericInn in West Salem. Second prize is a $40 gift certificate to Linda’s Bakery. One nominator also will win a prize, a $20 gift card to the I-90 Cenex in West Salem.

The winning homes also will be included in the Christmas week edition of the Coulee News.

Other activities and events planned include the following:

  • LETTERS TO SANTA: Letters can be dropped off through Dec. 21 at Santa’s mini mailbox in the lobby of the West Salem Post Office.

  • HOLIDAY PARTY: Children ages 4-10 are invited to a holiday party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Hazel Brown Leicht Memorial Library community meeting room.

  • BASKETBALL OPEN GYM: Open basketball sessions at West Salem Middle School are under way on Sundays through the end of February. Family times (kids with a supervising adult) are from 4 to 6 p.m. and adults-only times are 6 to 8 p.m.
