The West Salem Parks and Recreation Department’s summer programming is in full swing, with a wide variety of activities planned for people of all ages.
Next week, for example, West Bowl Lanes will host two hours of bowling, lasers, music, pizza and soda, with sessions for ages 5-8 (6 to 8 p.m.) and ages 9-14 (8 to 10 p.m.) planned for Monday, July 13. Cost is $15 for village residents, $20 for school district residents and $25 for others.
Also next week is the Great Big Pajama Party for ages 4-8 to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Hazel Brown Leicht Memorial Library in West Salem. The event will feature snacks, a movie and more. Cost is $8 for village residents, $13 for school district residents and $18 for others.
Other one-day events include a trip to the UW-La Crosse climbing wall on July 27 and a Pirate Adventure on July 28.
Also planned are a series of craft classes for ages 4-10 starting July 21, a youth gymnastics camp starting July 20 and a youth soccer clinic starting Aug. 10.
Adult open tennis nights will be held on Wednesdays starting July 22, and open batting cage is offered Mondays and Thursdays from noon to 2 p.m. The high school’s mat room also is open from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.
The recreation department also offers discount tickets on a variety of Wisconsin Dells attractions, the Milwaukee County Zoo and Six Flags Great America.
