MINDORO — Glen L. Sacia, 91, formerly of Mindoro died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Marinuka Manor, Galesville. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Mindoro Lutheran Church, followed by military rites by the Gunderson-Gilbertson American Legion Post 507 of Mindoro and U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard. Private family burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church. Memorials are preferred. Steven D. Greene
LA CROSSE -- Steven D. Greene, 49, of La Crosse died Friday, May 22, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
He was born March 18, 1960, in La Crosse to Raymond and Lorene (Pralle) Greene. Steve was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1977 to 1980. On Oct. 17, 1987, he married Kelly Harris at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in West Salem. Steve was a co-owner of Outdoor Service Inc. in West Salem. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being at his summer cottage on the river and also 4-wheeling, golfing and cooking. Steve loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed attending his boys’ sporting events. He was always instrumental in organizing many gatherings of friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kelly; two sons, Samuel and Cody, both living at home; his mother, Lorene Greene of La Crosse; three sisters, Mary (Jack) Swartz of La Crosse, Kathleen (Mac) McIntee of Bangor and Raenel (Lynn) Meyer of West Salem; three brothers, Richard (Vonnie) Greene of Black River Falls, Raymond (Penny) Greene of Mindoro and Kenneth Greene of La Crosse; a sister-in-law, Rita Greene of La Crosse; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marshal and Margot Harris of La Crosse; a sister-in-law, Margie (Bruce) Bartschenfeld of Onalaska; four brothers-in-law, Marshal Harris Jr. of Hokah, Minn., Alan (Marye) Harris of Holmen, Robert Harris of La Crescent, Minn., and Christopher (Lori) Harris of La Crosse; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; his sister, LaVonne; his brother, Daniel; and a sister-in-law, Jo.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. Father Douglas Robertson will officiate. A private family burial will be held in Hamilton Cemetery, West Salem. Friends may call at the church Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and also Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to establish an education fund for Steve’s children.

Carol A. Bendel
ONALASKA — Carol A. Bendel, 61, of Onalaska passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse.
She was born May 22, 1947, in La Crosse to John and Betty (Trehus) Pfaff. Carol was employed by Lakeview Health Care Center in West Salem as an accountant. She loved her job and the people she worked with. She married Rick Bendel on June 24, 1967, in La Crosse. Her favorite activities were caring for her plants and her yard, knitting, crocheting, fishing, the Green Bay Packers and putting together holidays for her family, and in the past she enjoyed bowling. Most of all she loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and caring for them whenever possible. Carol was an unforgettable and kind soul. She will be extremely missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her children, Brent (Tammie) Bendel of Holmen, Blake Bendel of Onalaska, Stacy Zobeck and her fiance Rick Kaminski of Holmen, and Shelly (Jamie) Roe of La Crescent, Minn.; six grandchildren, Cameron and Keaton Bendel, Ariel and Brody Zobeck and Caiden and Kailix Roe; her father, John Pfaff of La Crosse; a sister, Mary (Larry) Webb of La Crescent; two brothers, Randy (Gina) Pfaff of Canyon Country, Calif., and Mark Pfaff of Holmen, numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Trey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick; her mother, Betty Pfaff; a brother, Larry Pfaff; and a son-in-law, Scott Zobeck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse. The Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery, next to the love of her life, Rick, where they will continue their never-ending journey, together once again. Friends may call at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
The family would like to thank everyone at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, the doctors and nurses, for their wonderful care, Dr. Mark Litzsow and staff at Rochester Methodist Hospital and to all her friends and co-workers who helped Carol in her time of need.
