The annual downtown West Salem street dance, a Labor Day weekend tradition, is back this year.
The event starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, and runs until 1 a.m. on a two-block section of Leonard Street.
Two bands with an emphasis on classic rock — Time and a Half and Clock — will alternate performances starting at 7 p.m.
The event is organized by downtown bars and restaurants, including the Breakers, Crazy Horse, Hunter’s Last Chance, Krome’s, the West Salem American Legion and Westview.
Each of the participating venues will offer drink specials, and food will be available for purchase on the street. A silent auction will be held at the American Legion hall.
Proceeds from the annual street dance go to a different cause each year and this year the proceeds will go toward helping pay for improvements in the West Salem High School baseball field.
