The 51st annual Mindoro High School alumni banquet was held July 26 at the Log Cabin in Bangor.

The class of 1958 was the honored 50-year class. Gloria Beaser, class of 1958, welcomed the crowd of 138. After a moment of silence honoring the departed alumni, a buffet dinner was served.

Each classmate present from 1958 spoke, including Gloria Barrett Beaser (Ray), Mindoro; Bonnie Freng Paisley (Ray), Holmen; Shirley Hanson Fancher, La Crosse; Bill Koopman, Machesney Park, Ill.; Joan Lieske Nelson (Donald), Tacoma, Wash.; Mary Miller Phillips (Ron), Mindoro; Donavon Paisley (Joanne), Weston, Mo.; Doug Paisley (Eileen), Mindoro; Jim Romskog (Marilyn), West Salem; Dennis Schmitz (Grace), Wisconsin Dells; Maribeth Timm Witt (Harlan), Holmen; Sid Welda (Mary), Onalaska; and Saundra Witte Holthaus (Arlan), Bangor.

Two class members did not attend, and John Timm is deceased.

Next the class of 1948 was introduced, including James Collins and Joyce Timm Collins, Roseville, Minn.; Helen Haag Larson (Glenn), Melrose; Don Hendrickson, Montello; Mary Lou Jones Pfaff (Duane), Bangor; Marcella Krueger Rhyme, Mindoro; MaryAnn Odemoe Schleifer (Lawrence), La Crosse; Zeviah Opland Zube (Bud), Milwaukee; Jean Smith Lange (Norman), Coon Valley; and Angeline Storandt Haag and Margaret Storandt Haag, both of Mindoro. Each class member received a red rose.

Roll call of the remaining classes began with the class of 1930, 78 years for Mildred Pfaff Allen, Holmen, and class of 1937, 71 years for Elizabeth Keppel Tracey. Both ladies received corsages.

Helping Mildred celebrate were her daughter, Dorothy Allen Langie (1957) and her youngest son, Jerry, (1965) and his wife, Ellen, and their daughter, Stephanie Mehven, and her children, Dylan, Ian and Kaitlin, Austin, Texas. With Elizabeth was her daughter, Mary Tracey Sargent (1962). .

Other honorees were Mildred Opland Timm, class of 1941; Marjorie Craig Nordstrom (Chet); Leona Reitz Paisley, Marie Goodenough Tracey and Art Harebo, class of 1942; Donald (Foster) Stetzer and Roger McClintock (Marvel), class of 1944; Beverly Bryhn Mickelson, class of l945, Doris Eggen West (Sam), Bruce Olson (Myrna), and Charles Ustby, class of 1947.

Then the rest of the attending alumni/spouses, and guests were introduced. Beginning with classes 1949-1966, only classes 1963 and 1964 were not represented. Letters were read from LaVonne Danielson Allendorf (1952) and Hertha Hartmann Wade (1937) .

Hertha also told about her sister, Lorraine Hartmann Hayden (1931), who is now 96 years. young. Former high school Principal Dale Hanke (1950-1953), wrote that he is now 83 years old, and prefers not to drive the distance to get here, but sent greetings to all his former students.

A short business meeting was held. Next year’s banquet will be held July 25. The class of 1959 will be the honor class of 50 years, with the class of 1949 being honored for 60 years.
