The Bangor Scholarship Foundation recently announced the awarding of six scholarships to Bangor High School graduates, made possible by contributions from district residents and alumni. The foundation awarded six $1,400 scholarships in 2008. Recipients were Kathryn Filla, Joseph Vargo, Megan Gerke, Emily Mashak, Emily Schroeder and Desiree Parker.

The Bangor Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors is composed entirely of volunteers.

“As educational costs continue to skyrocket for today’s student, the foundation is proud to help our Bangor School District graduates pursue post high school educational endeavors to achieve their life long goals,” said the foundation’s Julie Meyer.

This year the Bangor Scholarship Foundation hosted the eighth annual Myrna Davis Memorial Golf Outing on June 28 at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Barre Mills. The golf outing drew 106 participants.
