Richard ‘Kazy’ Kasten

Reginald Stanley ‘Mac’ McCullin
LA CROSSE -- Reginald Stanley “Mac” McMullin, 89, of La Crosse died on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Hillview Health Care Center. He was born on May 28, 1919, in La Crosse to Curtis and Gladys (Link) McMullin. He graduated from Beloit High School, Beloit, Wis., and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940. He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a radio operator and gunner on a B-17 Bomber “Flying Fortress” in the South Pacific. Mac received the Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Quadruple Bronze Star Attachment and Honorable Service Lapel Button World War II. He was discharged in September of 1944. Mac married Violet Smith on Sept. 17, 1944, in Ardmore, Okla. Mac had worked as a pattern maker for Allis Chalmers from 1945 to 1964 and as a real estate agent for Bob Deal Realty from 1960 to 1979. Mac also did home repairs for many years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post 595, La Crescent, Minn., the VFW, the Coulee Region Promenaders, AARP and RAMP.
Mac is survived by his wife Violet; four children, Helen Lee McMullin of La Crosse, Gary (Linda) McMullin of Mindoro, Wis., Janet (David) Villeneuve of Onalaska, Wis., and Patricia Battaglia of Park Ridge, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Douglas) Filips, Keli (Scott) Stach, Wendy McMullin, Colleen (Douglas) Miskowiak, David (Lori) Ruegg, Kurtis (Vicki) Ruegg and Thomas Battaglia; 11 great-grandchildren, Joseph and Olivia Rice, Loretta, Matthew, Michael, Carissa and Ashly Ruegg, Samuel and Allison Miskowiak, and Grace and Annabella Filips; and a sister, Lillian Anderson of St. Augustine Beach, Fla. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Battaglia; two sisters, Rosella Scurrah and Geraldine Rebhan; and a brother, Richard McMullin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, La Crosse. Pastor Lewis Lebbaken will officiate. Entombment with military rites will be in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Heart Association, or Asbury United Methodist Church. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.
Osborne ‘Ozzie’ M. Moe
BLACK RIVER FALLS — Osborne “Ozzie” M. Moe, 95, of Black River Falls, owner of the former Moe’s Shoe Store died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, in the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls.
Ozzie was born in Black River Falls on Nov. 18, 1912, to Peter L. and Anna (Jermstad) Moe.
He was raised in Black River Falls, and he graduated from high school in 1931. He graduated from Carroll College in 1935.
He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945.
Ozzie married Marianna Reuter in El Paso, Texas, on Aug. 3, 1942.
He was a partner with his brother Price in a clothing business in Black River Falls until 1947. From 1947-78, he owned and operated Moe’s Shoe Store in downtown Black River Falls.
He was past president of the Black River Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Recreation Association, the Lions Club, the Jackson County Red Cross and School Committee. He served on the SESA No. 11 school committee for 19 years. In 1972, he received the P.D.K., Lay Educator of the Year Award.
He served for 19 years on the Wisconsin Department of Education Appeal Board. He served on the Jackson County Health and Human Services Board, and he was on the Board of Directors of the Western Wisconsin Area Agency of Aging. He was a 40-year member of Black River Falls Masonic Lodge No. 74 F. & A.M. He served on the Evangelical Lutheran Church Council.
In 2007, he received The Service Above Self Award given by the local Rotary Club in recognition of his community service.
Surviving are his wife, Marianna; a son, Thomas (Janelle) Moe, Ashland, Wis.; two daughters, Ellyn (Alan) Stauffacher, New Glarus, Wis., and Susan (Harry) Peterson, West Salem, Wis.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Erik (Bridget) and Sam (Marcie) Peterson, Amy (B.J.) Brenna, Ryan (Tracy) and Bekah (Gregg Jamison) Stauffacher, seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and six brothers, Rollin “Junk,” Price, Price, Lawrence, Philip and Alvin “Beaner.”
Funeral services for Osborne “Ozzie” M. Moe will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Ramie Bakken will officiate, and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), 408 N. Water St., and 10 a.m. Tuesday to services at the church.
Pallbearers will be Ozzie’s five grandchildren and their spouses.
