It was a time of approval and renewal as the Hamilton Town Board met Tuesday, July 8 for its monthly meeting.

The board approved a variance on John Wyatt’s property on Shorewood Court. The variance allows for a structure to hold earth within a 75-foot setback from Lake Neshonoc.

Wyatt told the board he has gathered large rocks to create a small wall of sorts to help secure the soil and lessen chances of erosion.

“I want a positive result,” Wyatt said. “I don’t want to go back and pick up those rocks.”

After a brief discussion, the board approved the variance. Board member Blaine Lee noted that the stacked stone wall helped beautify the lake frontage.

The town board also gave favorable approval to Darci and David Halverson’s sons Eric and Tom to do some work at Shorewood Park as part of an Eagle Scout Project.

Tom told the board about his plans to help do some landscaping work as well as maybe installing a handicap seat on the swings. Darci spoke for her son Eric, who was away at camp, and explained his desire to stain and varnish a gazebo at the park.

Board Chair Richard Schomburg told the Halversons that he and the board approved of the idea, and if Tom and Eric wrote up plans to give to the board, the board might help fund the projects with money from the town’s park budget.

The town board also reviewed and renewed their building inspector’s contract and approved a request from Black Hawk Archers for a picnic license.
