The West Salem Parks and Recreation Department is still accepting summer registration for the following activities.

Summer Soccer Clinic
Summer soccer is designed to focus on the fundamental skills and development of a soccer player. Personalized instruction and small sided games are emphasized to give participants many touches on the ball every day. Participants should wear activity appropriate clothes, soccer or tennis shoes, shin protectors and bring a water bottle.
Date for the clinic are Aug. 4-7; Aug. 8 is set aside for a rain date.
The time for those entering kindergarten through first grade will be 6-7 p.m.; and the time for those entering second through fifth grade will be 7-8 p.m.
Fees are $25 for village residents, $30 for school district residents and $35 for out-of-district residents.
Popps Cave Spelunking
This spelunking trip, led by the UW-L Adventure Program, will provide participants with a true caving experience right in the center of Popps Cave, located south of Viroqua in Bosstown. The participants will make their way through mud, darkness and a few tight spaces.
The cave is a constant 50 degrees, so plan to wear very old clothing, including long pants, a long sleeve shirt or a sweatshirt, socks and tennis shoes. The group will be provided with helmets and safety equipment but a flashlight is recommended. A backpack with a sack lunch, beverage, complete change of clothes and a large plastic bag for dirty clothes will be necessary. Also recommended are a snack and beverage for the ride home.
This trip, scheduled for Aug. 5, is for those entering grades fourth and up. A bus leaves from the West Salem recreation office at village hall at 10 a.m. and will return at 5:30 p.m.
Fees are $35 for village residents, $40 for school district residents and $45 for out-of-district residents.
Messy Fest
Messy Fest is a family event open to all ages with parent participation encouraged. It is full of playing messy with stuff mom and dad don’t like to clean up at home.
Activities include eating messy foods without your hands, splatter painting, painting with your hands and feet, shaving cream beauty salon, bubbles, water activities, fun with bubble gum, gummy worms, pudding and Cheetos and a water station to clean everything up. Concessions will be available for a small fee during the event.
The event will be held Aug. 12 from 6-7 p.m. Fees are $4 per participant and $15 per family.
