Published - Tuesday, May 13, 2008 Aging talk covers basics of cancer Franciscan Skemp Healthcare will present “Understanding Cancer,” an educational session about cancer prevention and wellness for elders, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27. Franciscan Skemp cancer guide Marti Runyon will give a brief overview of cancer facts for elders and will also focus on the whole person as mind, body and spirit. She will also give prevention tips, including nutrition, exercise and stress management. This seminar, part of the Successful Aging Program, will be held in the Marycrest Auditorium on the second floor of the La Crosse Campus St. Francis Building, 700 West Ave. S. Refreshments are provided at no cost before each program from 2 to 2:30 p.m. “Understanding Cancer” will begin at 2:30 and last until 3:30, with a half-hour to follow for questions. The event is free and open to all. For more information, call Elder Services at 392-9505.
