For the week of April 25 through March 2, the West Salem Police Department wrote six traffic citations, wrote two municipal citations and issued three warnings. The following is a selection of incidents.
Saturday, April 26
7:19 p.m. — An 18-year-old La Crosse man was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
Tuesday, April 29
7:41 a.m. — A 48-year-old man reported someone tried to steal a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck from Outdoor Services Inc., located at 641 Brickl Road. The incident occurred as early as April 26; it appears that someone attempted to hot-wire the vehicle.
4:22 p.m. — A 43-year-old Sparta man was cited for operating a vehicle after suspension.
4:46 p.m. — A 40-year-old Sparta man was cited for operating a vehicle after revocation.
Thursday, May 1
2:05 a.m. — A 29-year-old West Salem man was arrested for obstruction of justice, bail jumping and outstanding warrants and a 31-year-old West salem woman was cited for disorderly conduct. Police were dispatched to the AmericInn after a worker reported naked people were running around. Police found the man and woman in a pool; the woman was naked and the man was wearing underwear. While being questioned, the man fled on foot but was later located outside.
