An 18-year-old Bangor man has been arrested and charged in connection to a burglary at the Village Inn nine months ago.
Seth Peters was charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court Feb. 7 with burglary to a building, theft and criminal damage to property in addition to a number of other misdemeanor charges.
Peters was arrested by police Feb. 4 after a tip from an eyewitness connected him to the May 9, 2007, burglary of the Village Inn, according to Bangor Police Chief Scott Alo.
Alo did to go into further details as to what information the eyewitness provided, but he lauded the importance of tips.
“We encourage witnesses to come forward because they often have information that we have no other way of knowing,” he said.
During the arrest at Peters’ residence, police recovered a stereo system that was reportedly stolen from a vehicle Oct. 9.
“The stereo system in his car was a match with one stolen last October,” Alo said. “We called the complainant and he identified it as his.”
Police also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia at Peters’ residence.
In all, Peters is charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, two counts of theft, entry into a locked vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Peters is scheduled to make his next court appearance
Feb. 29.
