LETTER: Paul makes more sense for the GOP

.
Ron Paul is not with the majority of Republicans with Iraq/foreign policy, but on every other issue Ron Paul is right on with the base. McCain is not with the Republican base on taxes, global warming, free speech, drilling for more oil, POW/MIA issue, immigration, torture, etc., but then you have Iraq where he is in line with the majority party of his party.

Joe Lieberman (with Iraq) is line with the Republican party to. Would Republicans vote for a Joe Lieberman just because of Iraq? I suppose there will be a few hardcore neo-cons (big government Republicans) like Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes out there who would, but the majority would not.

A vote for McCain is basically like voting for Lieberman. The biggest thing these McCain and Lieberman have in common is they both have alienated their party’s base. I hope a lot of conservatives will weigh all the issues and see that in total, Paul’s views line up to be more conservative than McCain’s “conservative/nation building” view on Iraq.

When did being conservative only become about staying in Iraq for 100 years and supporting nation building around the world? Whatever ever happened to small government, low/zero taxes, personal freedom and liberty of the individual over state power?

" I would challenge the basic assertion that most republicans are for the war in iraq. Is that before or after anti-war republicans left the party in utter disgust? But even if you look at the party as it is now, its hard to get any republican to state even just one logical reason why we should be in iraq. When pressed, it all comes down to beliefs with them. The facts seem to be irrelevant. That's probably why the party is shrinking... (not that the dems are any better.... try debating a die-hard gun-grabber!) "

"

It is obvious that Analysis has not taken the biased media coverage into consideration. Ron Paul would have done much better had he the coverage that other candidates get. Ron Paul is NOT an "isolationist". That is hogwash and everyone with any intelligence can see that. Ron Paul speaks of "non-intervention" which is totally different and cannot be confused with "isolationism" by any thinking man. Ron Paul's social ideas are the same as that of the founding father's of this union. Were they anarchists?

It seems to me that there are more and more people that cannot think for themselves. Analysis did not analyze anything - only repeated what has been blaring from the "anti-Paul" neo-con bought and paid for Media. Take a good look at all that Analysis said and it matches very well with the dribble coming from the Media. That was no analysis made by a free thinker. It was nothing more than quotation of the "boob tube". (They call it that for a reason!) "

But, he calls himself Republican so he must be conservative, right? That's W in a nutshell and his penchant for throwing away our money and the lives of our military to enrich his corporate cronies just puts the icing on the cake.

I'm glad your intelligent enough to perceive all of this & I just know you wouldn't be stupid enough to vote for McCain.

Ron Paul is the thinking man's candidate, just ask the military.

He has managed to rapidly ignite numerous ACTIVE supporters from a small congressional district to nationwide and its still spreading.

Some of your states representatives support him. I have been emailing them to implore them to actively support RON PAUL. I am happy with the results so far. Some REAL response. Each motorcade would be fed by it's own "media driven inertia" As each motorcade proceeds east, city to city, county to county, state to state it will generate it's own life. Neo-con Republicans recognize that, in order to maintain security for Israel, the US must constantly attack Arab nations. This is a well known Neo-con military doctrine that has worked to prevent attacks on Israel and re-focus Arab aggression and "blowback" on our nation for quite some time and it has now been modified to protect Israel in this modern age of Islamo-Fascists. 3) Ron Paul's social policy is akin to the true American spirit of liberty and neo-con Republicans believe in a nanny-state and a strong welfare system that will fit you with a diaper and clean up after your mess at the expense of hard-working middle class taxpayers. " Analysis:
In response to your ludicrous assertions point by point:
"1) Republican voters recognize that he is simply a Libertarian posing as a Republican and Republicans don't appreciate having the Libertarian Party infiltrating their ranks"

Republican voters wishes are being patently ignored by every candidate that has been offered them. Asserting that Ron is a stealthy member of the Libertarian party is disingenuous, he has caucused with Republicans, and done more for the Republican BASE here in Texas than Perry and Bush ever have. They govern by playing to the middle or left, betraying any principles they espouse by diluting any result that Conservative principles of Liberty, which the Libertarian Party in a well meaning sense attempts to do from the outside, because of the overwhelming number of failures of Republicans to actually do what they say. Ron is truly Republican, he defends the Republic and does what the constitution says he should, unlike the so-called maverick McCain who spits in the face of the POW MIA advocates while claiming his Veteran bona-fides. Libertarians don't find him Libertarian enough quite frankly, but not many care what they think anyway, it's different depending on each libertarian you ask anyway.

"2) Ron Paul is an isolationist and Republicans recognize that, in order to maintain security for our nation, we must project our power. This is a well known military doctrine that has worked to prevent attacks on our nation for quite some time and it has now been modified to protect us in this modern age of Islamo-Fascists."

Wrong, Ron Paul is a non-interventionist, an Isolationist would cease dealings (trade and military dealings) with other nations. Paul sees Trade dealings as beneficial and necessary for the Nations health. He does not believe in tossing our weight around unnecessarily, 1) because it fits with moral principles best and 2) because we can't afford to keep doing it, in case you hadn't noticed our debt.

"3) Ron Paul's social policy is akin to anarchy and Republicans believe in an orderly society. "

How does the rule-of-law equate to Anarchy again? How does an Anarchist wind up running for political office? Laughable, let's try again.

If you mean Republicans believe that rights extend only so far as the Government allows, rather than arising from commonly established agreed upon sources like God, or Natural Law, well, we obviously differ in opinion. I guess I wouldn't really call you anything other than a Totalitarian Statist.

Here's a further example of your latter positions failure.

Lets say I have issues with you as a neighbor and we have sincere and fundamental disagreements, am I better off coming to some agreement with you directly on peaceful terms or am I better off hiring our mutual neighbors to engage in surveillance and proxy burgulary and assault against you. How would you feel about me if I did this? Which do you think is a more viable long term solution to our differences?

Mike Costello, Born in La Crosse, now living in Pflugerville, Texas. Howdy Y'all. Ron Paul is truly our best hope in this age of corruption and rot, but don't give up hope, take your government back and make it listen to *you* because your rights aren't dictated by them, they come from something greater, no matter who you support, realize that. "

Ron Paul is for a strong National defense... not nation building. Protection of OUR borders is the first concern to any foreign policy.

At what cost do you assume we pay for an "orderly society"? Huge deficits... debt to forein influence... loss of privacy and personal liberty?

You are right. Many of the Neo-Republicans and Democrats are marching (goose stepping) to this beat. We need to pull the people back to what built this country to begin with. Our constitution belongs to the people and many Americans have shed blood for these ideas. I can't believe so many "patriots" are willing to sacrafice those ideas when we need them the most. "
